Monday, January 30, 2006 Hmmm...I have tons to say, but when I started getting ready to type this, it all went away. So, here's what I remember thinking would make for an interesting topic.First of all, a little national current events. Recently the NCAA issued a bunch of bull$* that basically meant that the college that I attended would have to change it's mascot from the ultra-offensive Indian. However, I have yet to see who is actually offended. Some Native Americans wrote letters supporting the mascot of the school and I haven't honestly saw a real Native American on the news talking about this being offensive. If I had, I could respect that and move on, but I haven't. And if that's the case, since when does this group need someone defending their rights and feelings? I find it all to be kinda shady. And honestly, what will this cause in the future? Will the national association of bulldog breeders want bulldogs to cease as a mascot because it unjustly labels their breed as agressive and prone to fight? Will Longhorn cattlebreeders get disgusted about the image portrayed of their selected breed of beef? Probably not....I'm sure some group for the special interest of beef and leather will act on behalf of the cows and dogs themselves, because let's face it guys, why do abused children and neglected babies need special interest groups to stand up for them when there are canines and bovines in need of representation? I just really feel that there are groups out there who need a strong voice because they can't take up for themselves, abused children, mentally and physically challenged people, neglected babies.... Anyway, I guess that's about all I have to say. I haven't done much lately other than knit and clean house, so unless you have ideas on what to do with toys that LittleMan has outgrown, I'm pretty boring today. I plan to take them to the Salvation Army or Goodwill, but any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks! Melissa |
