I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and when I updated my book list on my sidebar I was surprised at just how many books that I’ve read lately.  I’m a very fast reader, so that helps, but now I understand why my house is such a mess.  LOL!  So, I thought I’d give a quick book review for all of you in case you are looking for a great read.

First up, P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern.  Great book.  I couldn’t put it down.  It was sweet, funny, and kept me interested to the very end.  I really enjoyed it.  However, I think there should definitely be a sequel.

Secondly, No Place Like Home by Mary Higgins Clark.  I may have reviewed this one before, I can’t remember, but here goes again.  MHC is one of my most favorite authors, but my one complaint is that her books had gotten to where they were all pretty similar, kind of like V.C. Andrews (I mean, how many stories can you write about inbreeding, child abuse, and crazy mothers?).  Anyway, this book surprised me.  Unlike her more recent books, I never suspected the killer.  Not even a clue!  Some of her books write from both the viewpoint of the victim and the killer, this one did not write from the killer’s viewpoint and I think it made me like the book even more.  This is one of her better books I think.  A good read if you like MHC.

The Pot Luck Club (can’t remember the author) This is a Christian fiction book, and very, very good.  A bonus is the great recipes in the back.  I only had a few complaints about the book.  First of all being that from the viewpoint it was written, you would think that the characters are pretty much the only people in the whole city and that the place they lived was this happy little sheltered town which I really don’t believe could ever exist.  It was a little too “perfect”.  But, a decent book.  When the next in the series comes out, I’ll definitely be buying it.

Books 1-4 of the Abram’s Daughters Series by Beverly Lewis.  First off, I have always had a strange fascination with Amish people.  This book gave such a detailed look at their day to day life and also had some “real world” issues in it, not just a perfect little story.  To read things from the Amish viewpoint is very interesting really.  It made me really wish I could try that lifestyle for a little while.  There is one final book to the series (book 5) which I have ordered and have on its way.  I can’t wait to finish this series.  These were definite page turners for me.

And finally, I have started Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner.  So far it’s great and has had me laughing out loud.  I love a little murder mystery, so I think this will be my favorite book of hers yet!

A few of these books that I have recently read, I am finished with and have listed on Amazon.com.  If any of you would like to purchase them, e-mail me at littlemp at gmail dot com and we can work something out.  I’m not looking to make a fortune, just enough to feed my book buying habit.  So, let me know if you are interested.

Melissa-Mom to LittleMan (4/04); wife to LuckyHusband; full-time toxicologist; full-time housekeeper; full-time domestic laundromat manager (washes all the clothes); full-time domestic finance manager (pays all the bills and yells at husband for spending too much money on fishing stuff); and Keeper of the Cheerios. Lives in a tiny town; spends tons of time with family; reads; enjoys crafts. Can change a diaper, fill a sippy cup, and put on a toddler's shoes in 15.4 seconds flat, all while calculating the impact of petroleum hydrocarbons to a nearby surface water body (watch for me in the Toddler Olympics on CBS this fall). Addicted to Dr. Pepper; Kit Kats; and pasta. To spot me in a crowd: I'm the one with frizzy messed-up hair, smeared graham crackers on my shirt; huge purse with a diaper peeking out, toddler on her hip, and camera in hand at all times.
