Okay, okay…beat me with a stick.  I am finally updating this thing.  I haven’t updated in a while for two reasons…(1) I’ve been swamped and (2) I can’t get on the internet at work hardly anymore, so I can’t visit all of your blogs and it makes me less interested in blogging altogether because I feel like I’m kinda one sided.  But….here I go!

We have been getting in the spirit of fall around here.  I took LittleMan to the pumpkin patch (pictures on my photoblog   http://cuteboyphotos.blogspot.com ) and bought some pumpkins and a really cool green curly gourd.  I think I’m going to try to make a birdhouse out of it.  We went to a fall festival for the church a couple of weekends ago and LittleMan was dressed really cute as a cowboy and I put on overalls and a kinda country looking shirt to get into the spirit.  Well, no one else in my age group did even that, so I won the “costume” contest in my age group.  So I guess the overweight frazzled mom running after a toddler look is “in” this year.  Or maybe I looked really scary……hmm…….

Halloween in the Park is going to be tomorrow night in our tiny little town, so we are going to go to that with my friend and her little boy who is only a few weeks older than LittleMan.  It should be fun.  Then Trick or Treating on Monday afternoon.  He’s going to be a dragon!!  It’s a cute costume from the Children’s Place.

I’ve been keeping up with all my book reading lately too.  I finished the Ashley Smith story last weekend and it was a pretty good book.  I was skeptical, but really ended up enjoying it.  I have some Jane Green (I think that’s her name) books on hold at the library that should be in today, so I’m psyched about having them for the weekend.

I promised myself that I was going to do some super cleaning this weekend.  I started on it last night, but didn’t get very far.  Just one of the bathrooms, but that’s a start I guess!

Well, until  I update again (which hopefully won’t take this long)…Have a Great Weekend!!!

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and when I updated my book list on my sidebar I was surprised at just how many books that I’ve read lately.  I’m a very fast reader, so that helps, but now I understand why my house is such a mess.  LOL!  So, I thought I’d give a quick book review for all of you in case you are looking for a great read.

First up, P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern.  Great book.  I couldn’t put it down.  It was sweet, funny, and kept me interested to the very end.  I really enjoyed it.  However, I think there should definitely be a sequel.

Secondly, No Place Like Home by Mary Higgins Clark.  I may have reviewed this one before, I can’t remember, but here goes again.  MHC is one of my most favorite authors, but my one complaint is that her books had gotten to where they were all pretty similar, kind of like V.C. Andrews (I mean, how many stories can you write about inbreeding, child abuse, and crazy mothers?).  Anyway, this book surprised me.  Unlike her more recent books, I never suspected the killer.  Not even a clue!  Some of her books write from both the viewpoint of the victim and the killer, this one did not write from the killer’s viewpoint and I think it made me like the book even more.  This is one of her better books I think.  A good read if you like MHC.

The Pot Luck Club (can’t remember the author) This is a Christian fiction book, and very, very good.  A bonus is the great recipes in the back.  I only had a few complaints about the book.  First of all being that from the viewpoint it was written, you would think that the characters are pretty much the only people in the whole city and that the place they lived was this happy little sheltered town which I really don’t believe could ever exist.  It was a little too “perfect”.  But, a decent book.  When the next in the series comes out, I’ll definitely be buying it.

Books 1-4 of the Abram’s Daughters Series by Beverly Lewis.  First off, I have always had a strange fascination with Amish people.  This book gave such a detailed look at their day to day life and also had some “real world” issues in it, not just a perfect little story.  To read things from the Amish viewpoint is very interesting really.  It made me really wish I could try that lifestyle for a little while.  There is one final book to the series (book 5) which I have ordered and have on its way.  I can’t wait to finish this series.  These were definite page turners for me.

And finally, I have started Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner.  So far it’s great and has had me laughing out loud.  I love a little murder mystery, so I think this will be my favorite book of hers yet!

A few of these books that I have recently read, I am finished with and have listed on Amazon.com.  If any of you would like to purchase them, e-mail me at littlemp at gmail dot com and we can work something out.  I’m not looking to make a fortune, just enough to feed my book buying habit.  So, let me know if you are interested.

Here’s a special announcement from LittleMan:

Congratulations to my Hooker.  She is going to be a Senior Maid on the Homecoming court this year because everyone else thinks she’s pretty just like I do.  I’m excited and I can’t wait to see her all dressed up and take lots of pictures with her.

I love my Hooker!

Love,

LittleMan

LittleMan is finally feeling a little better, but is still not himself.  Last night he ate his first good meal in about 4 days.  He ate like a horse!!  I guess he was making up for lost time.  After supper, it was bath time and I decided to get in a phone call to my aunt while he was playing in the bathtub (I was watching him though).  When I happened to look at him in the bathtub, I saw something that I’ve never ever witnessed this child do before.  **Warning, for those of you with no children, this will seem really disgusting.  To those with children, really really hilarious**

There it was, floating in the tub…..poop.  I was sooooo grossed out.  I grabbed him up, toweled him off, and wiped him down with antibacterial wipes.  (See, you will use stuff you buy on sale at Bath and Body Works later on) and then looked at the mess that I had to clean up.

Thankfully, I noticed it in enough time to grab LittleMan up before he could touch it or anything like that.  But, I still had the daunting task of cleaning the tub.  Thankfully, Sunday I bought a big bottle of Soft Scrub with bleach, so I squeezed enormous amounts of that into the tub and let it sit.  Then, I cleaned.  I swear my bathtub hasn’t been that clean in a LONG time.  Not that I’m nasty and don’t clean, but I will say that my tub gets neglected because it’s so big that I have to stand in the middle of it to clean it.

Even this morning after multiple applications of lotion, my hands still smell like bleach.  YUCK!

We did go to the animal stuffers place this weekend and let the sick little one pick out an animal of his very own.  We looked at the wall of different selections and I asked him which animal he wanted.  He quickly replied, “moooo cow mommy” and I told him there wasn’t any cows.  He got kind of angry and said “No!  Mooo cow mommy!”  In the end, he settled on a nice alligator and dressed him in a cute fishing outfit complete with a pole.

Speaking of fishing, our church is having a Fall Festival and I’ve been asked to help with the go-fish booth.  So, any decorating suggestions are welcome.  I have a few in mind, but I could always use more.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Lives in a tiny town; spends tons of time with family; reads; enjoys crafts. Can change a diaper, fill a sippy cup, and put on a toddler's shoes in 15.4 seconds flat, all while calculating the impact of petroleum hydrocarbons to a nearby surface water body (watch for me in the Toddler Olympics on CBS this fall). Addicted to Dr. Pepper; Kit Kats; and pasta. To spot me in a crowd: I'm the one with frizzy messed-up hair, smeared graham crackers on my shirt; huge purse with a diaper peeking out, toddler on her hip, and camera in hand at all times.
