Well, as you can see, vacation went really well. We had a really good time and were super glad to get away from home. Especially since our air conditioner died late Tuesday night. It was fine for sleeping on Tuesday night, but we had to spend Wednesday night with my mom and we left for vacation on Thursday. When we returned Sunday, it still wasn't fixed, so we spent Sunday night with her also. It got fixed yesterday afternoon (yippee!), so we are back on track! I was so glad to be able to finally sleep in my own bed last night! As you can see from the pictures, we went to the Aquarium of the Americas and then we took a boat ride to the Audubon Zoo. That was a lot of fun. They had the most awesome gorilla there. He looked just like a grump old man.

We also toured the National D-Day Museum, which was really nice, but not a kid place. We did TONS of walking on Friday. My feet were so sore! When I got back to work yesterday, I utilized our drafting department to see just how far I walked on Friday alone, and we came up with around 6 miles!! No wonder I was sore (plus I counted that as excercise. Go me!) We did lots of walking in the French Quarter. I visited my homeland, Margaritaville. I had a nice huge one for all of you and it was super-tasty!! I also got a t-shirt to prove that I went. LOL! We ate lots of great food while we were there also. But, strangely enough after being "good" on my diet, I found it hard to be really, really bad and cheat. I couldn't even eat nearly as much as I formerly would have been able to. I guess that's good, but I was really looking forward to cheating. LOL!

The hotel managed to lose my car Sunday morning when we were getting ready to leave. That really sucked. I actually stood up to the hotel management and got a partial refund. It took them over an hour to find my vehicle.

On the way home, we visited Avery Island, home of Tabasco. That was cool. They have some really neat gifts! I think you can also order them on the
Tabasco website. Check them out!

Yesterday, I loaded my 130-something pics on
Shutterfly and made the cutest bound vacation album that I should receive soon. They really are nice if you are looking for a great way to display some vacation pictures, or any pictures for that matter! I want to get all of LittleMan's baby pictures together into a book like that. I am also working on a cute vacation scrapbook utilizing the brochures from places we visited so that one day LittleMan can read about everything at the places we went (since he won't remember) and I also bought postcards everywhere we went to include in the scrapbook. My parents used to give us money for postcards on vacation and I have a big book full of them from vacations when I was a kid. I wish we'd have thought to remember to collect brochures though. I think that would have been cool too.

Well, I know you are tired of reading this! I'll be by to visit all of you as soon as I can! I missed you all! I'll add more vacation pics throughout the week so you can see other cool stuff!

Melissa
Melissa-Mom to LittleMan (4/04); wife to LuckyHusband; full-time toxicologist; full-time housekeeper; full-time domestic laundromat manager (washes all the clothes); full-time domestic finance manager (pays all the bills and yells at husband for spending too much money on fishing stuff); and Keeper of the Cheerios. Lives in a tiny town; spends tons of time with family; reads; enjoys crafts. Can change a diaper, fill a sippy cup, and put on a toddler's shoes in 15.4 seconds flat, all while calculating the impact of petroleum hydrocarbons to a nearby surface water body (watch for me in the Toddler Olympics on CBS this fall). Addicted to Dr. Pepper; Kit Kats; and pasta. To spot me in a crowd: I'm the one with frizzy messed-up hair, smeared graham crackers on my shirt; huge purse with a diaper peeking out, toddler on her hip, and camera in hand at all times.
